Computer Music Tech/Software & DJ'ing, Cubase SX, Reason, FL Studio, Cakewalk Sonar, Pro Tools, Recycle, SoundForge, Cool Edit, Wavelab, Technics/Vestax & Pioneer Turntables & CDJ's I have worked as a specialist tutor and mentor in Computer Music Technology at Manchester College of Arts & Technology (MANCAT) & North Trafford College (NTC) in their Music & Visual Arts Department for in excess of 3 years. , , I initially joined the department in a voluntary role as part of the Access to Music ‘Music Facilitators Program’. However, after seeing me pass the course with distinction, coupled with the glowing feedback I received from my students. I was promptly promoted to a fully paid staff position., , As part of my Music Facilitators course, I was required to devise a teaching programme that could be taught over the course of an academic year. This challenging, year-long research project to devise the optimum method of teaching the computer music programmes Propellerhead Reason and Steinberg Cubase SX (up to a Level 4 standard), has now formed the core curriculum of my current teaching strategy at North Trafford College. My rewarding research has also resulted in a series of extra curricula workshops that have been championed by NTC’s Music and Visual Arts Programme Manager who has placed them on our student intranet to allow students to enhance their skills at home, in their own time., , Last academic year I also organised NTC’s inaugural Urban Music Showcase. The showcase is my brainchild, and allowed students to network and attend lectures / sessions with successful music industry figures including presenters from BBC Radio 1xtra, music producers, vocal artists and the best club promoters in the North-West. This in-turn helped them to forge contacts for the future and to decide how best to put what I have taught them into practice in their future careers in the music industry. This commitment to my students even after they leave college is also reflected in the number of students I have secured paid performance work for in pubs and clubs in the NW through my wider industry contacts., , I am very proud to teach and mentor (in a group and one to one basis) at NTC, and feel that I relate to my students in a unique way due to previous life experience. This is reflected in both my attendance figures (my part of the Creative Music Producer Course has the highest attendance and retention figures in the department) and the feedback from my students who regularly tell me that my lessons are the main reason they attend the course as a whole. , , Whilst bringing a wealth of musical knowledge to my work, i have also DJ'ed internationally on the Drum & Bass circuit for the past 10 years. Furthermore, I have energy, expertise and a strong belief that I can bring out the best in all whom I come into professional contact with. I have a real passion for music and interacting with people.
