Cello I started teaching 6 years ago., , After studies at the RSAMD with David Watkin, principal cellist of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, I was lucky to go on to study with some of the most respected and sought-after teachers in the world, including Frans Helmerson, Christoph Richter, Alexander Baillie, Gabor Takacs-Nagy, at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland and Bremen University of the Arts., , As a result of studying with many fantastic teachers I have a great deal of information to pass on. I made lots of changes to my playing in my early/mid 20s, and so have a clear understanding of many technical issues and how to resolve them, from fundamentals such as posture, to developing more advanced techniques like sautille., , I have a lot of performing experience, all over Europe; I've been a member of professional orchestras in the UK, Germany and Switzerland, I have played chamber music at renowned international festivals such as Menuhin Festival Gstaad, I have won prizes for string quartet (Chamonix-Mont-Blanc France 2011, 1st prize and audience prize) and have performed as soloist in concertos in prestigious halls such as Tonhalle Zurich and Deutsche Haus Naruto in Japan., , I am currently working as a freelance cellist, based in Glasgow but with additional work on the continent, mostly in Basel and Bern. As a musician I love all kinds of music, and am also active as a guitarist and songwriter. I have played both cello and guitar in several bands, and with Scottish folk musicians.
