You are invited to take music lessons with an experienced, friendly and patient teacher and performer. Helen’s fun and informative classes allow her pupils to enhance their love for music whilst developing their creativity and a good classical technique.
Her commitment and skill have inspired her pupils to achieve outstanding marks in graded exams. As a result they have been able to participate in prestigious Competitions and Youth Orchestras.
Lessons are accessible and open to all ages and abilities from five to ninety-five! Beginners to advanced and adult beginners welcome.
Helen adapts her style of teaching according to the needs of each individual and she understands the need for a well rounded musical education and is happy to give guidance in all relevant areas. She helps with set up and the acquisition of instruments, equipment and music. She also purchases equipment for later reimbursement and an instrument hire service is available, (please contact for further details.)
Helen lives in Elstree and Borehamwood and offers lessons from home, on a weekly basis. (Lessons throughout holidays are also available.)
Classical Violinist HELEN BILLING BMus (Hons) trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with the late Professor Yfrah Neaman OBE, FGSM and later with Erika Klemperer of the renowned Klemperer Trio and in the Alexander Technique with Dr Selma Gokcen. She has participated in master classes with some of the worlds leading Violinists including Itzhak Rashkovsky, Krzysztof Smietana, Emanuel Hurwitz, Ruggiero Ricci at the Dartington International Summer School and with Nobu Wakabayashi on Scholarship at the Bowdoin International Summer School in Maine, USA.
Helen has performed in some of the world’s most famous concert halls and has won numerous honours, awards and scholarships. She was the 2006 Winner of the Deutsche Bank Pyramid Award for Music, Acting, Stage Management and Technical Theatre with an awards ceremony at the National Theatre, South Bank. She was awarded the use of a beautiful Violin by the Benslow Music Trust and was invited to perform in the Yfrah Neaman International Violin Competition in Mainz, Germany.
Helen has become highly sought after as a teacher, she has studied the Alexander Technique for twelve years and incorporates this into her vocation.
She has worked professionally with the London Symphony Orchestra in their outreach programme, performed in a TV and radio advert for the NSPCC with ITV and gained further experience in studio recording with an A-level in Music Technology (A). She performed as Soloist and Director with the Cambridge Symphonia and in the Joy to the World and St. Georges day Celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall. Her Solo/Chamber and Orchestral tours include concerts in Austria, Slovakia, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany and the USA. |
