Dr Michael Spacie's tutoring experience involves teaching piano, music theory and singing from absolute beginner through intermediate and advanced levels to diploma standard.

A good grounding is given in the necessary skills needed to become a competent pianist and tuition is given in all aspects of technique and interpretation. Students work from books and other materials under tutorial guidance, working at a pace that is comfortable for them. Exams are available in both practical and theoretical subjects for those who require them. For students, these consist of eight graded exams (Grades 1 - 8) followed by diploma. All these exams can be taken under Dr Michael Spacie's experienced tutelage. Exams, however, are not compulsory: learning simply for pleasure is always encouraged and supported. Enjoyment of lessons and learning to play are the most important aspects of tuition. In teaching the piano, all styles are acknowledged, and training is a mixture of learning pieces, practising various aspects of technique, music interpretation, musicianship skills, and learning music theory. Students have their lessons using the piano in Dr Michael Spacie's teaching studio and practise on their own piano at home.

Dr Michael Spacie's tutoring experience also involves teaching singing. A good grounding is given in the necessary skills needed to become a competent singer and tuition is given in all aspects of vocal production including how to care for the voice, together with training and instruction in breathing technique, posture, voice support, placing the voice, resonance, vibrancy, start-of-the-note and vowel centering, vocal agility and range, vocal tone, intonation, diction, articulation, aural training, music interpretation, and for those who wish, music theory tuition, which enables students to learn to read and write music. Examinations are available in both practical and theoretical subjects for those who require them. Exams are not compulsory: learning for pleasure is always encouraged and supported. Enjoyment of the lessons and learning to sing are the most important aspects of singing tuition. In teaching singing, all styles are acknowledged, and training is a mixture of singing songs and practising exercises for various aspects of vocal technique to produce a rounded singer. Warm-up and breath exercises are used to develop a student's technique, enabling a stress-free vocal mechanism with sufficient range and well-managed register changes, as well as the ability to sing with an even tone and intensity. Songs are chosen appropriate to a student's age, vocal range, abilities and musical interests to enhance their vocal and expressive range. Also, encouragement of versatility and understanding of style and ability to deal with songs of different character, mood, tempo and era. Students are trained to develop a good ear for music, enabling them to hear and reproduce rhythms, phrases, melody and harmony lines, interval pitching etc.

Mobile tuition is not undertaken due to the tutor having many students attending. Tuition is held in the tutor's modern and comfortable teaching studio where there is seating for one parent or guardian should they wish to attend with a young person.

Tuition is open to both adults and young people. The tutor, Dr Michael Spacie, is DBS Checked (Enhanced Disclosure) and is fully registered with EPTA UK. He is highly qualified and very experienced, establishing his music teaching practice in February 1987.
