From 1987 to date I have worked as a freelance professional trumpeter. I have worked with ensembles as diverse as the Welsh Jazz Orchestra, The Melochrino Orchestra, The Renaissance Orchestra, The Welsh Sinfonia, The Welsh Chamber Orcheatra, The Charles Barber Band, and for 10 years was the Lead Trumpeter at the New Theatre, Cardiff for the Christmas seasons.
I have held a number of teaching positions including from September 1992 to August 2003 the Brass Instrumental Tutor at Christ College, Brecon and from June 1994 to August 2006 the Brass Instrumental Tutor at Malvern Girls' College. I am currently employed as the Brass Instrumental Tutor at Malvern St James (since September 2006) and Beaudesert Park School, Minchinhampton (since September 2002). I am also a Specialist Tutor for the trumpet and cornet at the Junior and Access Studies Department of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff (since 1996). I also has over 40 private pupils. I am a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and am listed on their Register of Professional Private Music Teachers.
To date my pupils have become members of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain, the National Children's Wind Sinfonia of Great Britain, the National Youth Brass Band of Wales, the National Youth Symphonic Brass Ensemble of Wales as well as a number of local groups including the Cory Band and the Tredegar Band. A number of my pupils have also entered the music profession as both teachers and performers. My pupils have also won many competitions including the Texaco Young Musician of Wales and the brass final of the 2004 BBC Young Musician of the Year.
