I have over 5 years of professional teaching experience teaching beginner to advanced students ranging from the ages of 5 to 67.
I am happy to teach in both formal and informal settings, following a syllabus intended to facilitate grade exams (ABRSM, RockSchool etc) or for those wishing to learn to play songs that they enjoy listening to. I am also very quick at transcribing and teaching material of your choosing.
I have a wealth of technical exercises designed to improve students' technique. All lessons are tailored to the students specific technical and theoretical needs. I am very adept at explaining music theory and illustrating its geography on the fretboard (making it accessible at any level)and I am also very experienced at explaining improvising concepts and illustrating them with the use of backing tracks.
I like to teach in a friendly and relaxed fashion which I find conducive to students progressing and enjoying their lessons.
I have been playing the guitar for 23 years and obtained a 1st class honours degree in popular music performance in 2007 from the London College of Music, winning a full scholarship for my masters degree. I have been playing professionally in and around London for the last 8 years with a number of different acts and musicians (including live sessions for BBC Radio). I have also recorded albums with various different artists including work with grammy award winning producers. I am fully CRB checked and have been teaching professionally for over 5 years, both on a freelance basis and within educational establishments (having taught BTEC Diploma guitar & music theory at East Devon College).
