Biography
I've been playing and teaching the guitar since the early 1980's. I play all styles of music, and my special interests are Rock, Jazz, Blues, and Classical.
I teach all ages - from complete beginner to advanced levels.
Study individually or in small groups - for groups of two or more I charge £15 per hour per pupil - my group lessons are a great way to learn to play whilst making new friends. Groups also learn to perform together - which can be useful for building playing confidence.
During the 1990's I worked at the Guitar Institute - one of the first modern music schools in the UK. As Director Of Operations, I played a role in setting up the UKs first performance focused dedicated rock guitar degree.
In 2009 I graduated from Truro College with a degree in Contemporary World Jazz
I am a member of the Woodfield Classical guitar ensemble. We have performed with the Junior and Senior Classical guitar ensembles at venues across Cornwall, including recent appearances at Truro Cathedral, St Petroc's Church, Bodmin, and All Saints Church, Falmouth.
I also play in a classical guitar quartet based in the Falmouth area.
I encourage pupils to become involved in performance. Many go on to join the Cornwall Junior or Senior Classical Guitar orchestras. Others have performed at festivals in Cornwall.
One of my pupils was also recently accepted to study at the renowned Brighton Institute of Modern Music Performance.
