Biography

Have always been interested in music from a young age, taking piano lessons then moving onto classical guitar before saxophone in High School.

Currently a principal study saxophonist at The Ian Tomlin School of Music, Napier University studying under Sue McKenzie. Play in The Banyuls Saxophone Quartet and also sing with my band The Stigs (myspace.com/smithstevensmusic)I also compose music for this band and other ensembles. Currently recording a new album of music.

Have studied in the USA with saxophonist Joseph Murphy at Mansfield University, PA. Also studied composition with Andrew Walters.

In terms of teaching, I provide relaxed yet focussed lessons looking at the basics of tone, sound and rhythm - repetoire choice is mostly up to yourself!
