Biography
James Hudson is a musician from Leeds, who studied music at the University of Sheffield and Leeds Colledge of Music.
Already with a host of qualifications and achievements under his belt, James is a keen organist and pianist. His love of music stems from his childhood, where he was forced by his mother to attend choir practices every night at Leeds Parish Church under the direction of Dr Simon Lindley. Now thankful for this musical education, James was inspired thereon to pursue a career in music.
With classical music and instrument tuition taking place weekly at the Royal Northern School of Music in Manchester, by 13 James was showing promising signs of things to come. Completing his Grade 8 Piano exam in September 2002, James was given the post of Organist and Choirmaster at Pool in Wharfedale Parish Church, near Leeds and there on moved to All Saint’s Parish Church, Otley, Leeds. Here, along with his colleagues, was successful in recruiting a choir of 30 in number.
Other interests include working with his father with the family business; Futurist, which supplies sound and lighting equipment to theatres, live events and conferences. Futurist are the principal suppliers to Leeds based opera group, Opera North.
James is also a keen fan of musical theatre and often musically directs shows and pantomimes for local amateur groups and theatre companies. Later in the year, James will be the musical director for ‘Chess’ the musical at the Royal Hall Theatre in Harrogate, (of which he is also a trustee for!)
