Biography

Nicola began playing the cello as a young child in Sandwell, West Midlands. She has a BA(hons) in Music from Leeds College of Music and Msc in Music in the Community from The University of Edinburgh. She divides her working life between performing, teaching cello and piano and delivering community music projects. Nicola co-founded community music organisation Hear My Music (hearmymusic.co.uk) with Glasgow based violinist Emily Carr. Nicola also runs Emerald Strings (emeraldstrings.co.uk), a string quartet business that performs at weddings, parties and corporate events.

Nicola is an experienced tutor who welcomes students of any age. She enjoys delivering fun lessons that offer musicianship education alongside technical learning. Nicola offers pre school lessons through general music learning through singing and games that can prepare children for instrumental lessons.

Nicola is an active member of the Musician's Union, giving her full insurance and training opportunities. She holds a full police disclosure.
