At the age of 10 I started having piano lessons. I continued the lessons for 2 years. I don’t remember much about the lessons. What I do remember was a feeling of frustration. Looking back on it now I believe the feeling of frustration was down to the teacher I had. He had a lack of understanding and ability to adapt his teaching method to a individuals needs, a real robotic style of teaching. I’m now 28. It’s over 15 years ago since my last piano lesson. I’ve taken 6 lessons with Lucy. Lucy really understands how one person is different from the next and doing so gets the best from you. I’m really enjoying my lessons with her and making extremely good progress. If you’re looking for a great piano teacher in the Brighton and Hove area I can highly recommend Lucy.

I have been taking piano lessons with Lucy for a year & a half. I started as a complete beginner and during this time I have made a massive amount of progress. I put this down to Lucy being a highly skilled, understanding and motivating teacher, who very importantly makes the lessons fun & enjoyable. I love my lessons with Lucy & I would highly recommend her.

I’ve been having lessons with Lucy for a few months now and would struggle to praise her higher really, I have always found her to be patient, encouraging, inspiring and fun. My musical knowledge before starting with Lucy was zero (bar an attempt at the Recorder for a few weeks about 30 years ago!) and there’s been times when I’ve felt that maybe I’m not cut out for learning an instrument/to read music at a later age but whenever I have got to a piece that I’ve struggled with (and been convinced I’d never get!) she has offered different ideas and suggestions which has enabled me to work through and get it. This constant support has given me more confidence with learning and I can’t believe that after a fairly short time I’m able to actually play songs I’ve loved for years. I only wish I’d taken up the Piano sooner now so if anyone’s reading this and not sure if it’s for them I would definitely say just go for it as I doubt you’d ever look back…Thank you, Lucy!
