ALISON TRAVIS started the flute at the age of 10. By the age of 13 she attained her Grade 8 with Distinction. She went to study flute with David Butt (of the BBCSO)and then went on to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where she studied flute with Averil Williams and Kate Lukas and piano with Norman Beedie. Alison graduated in 1988 and then won a scholarship the following year for post graduate study in Performance and Communication Skills. Alison gave her Purcell Room debut in 1990 and since then has made many recital tours throughout Europe and broadcast for the BBC and Hungarian Television.
Alison was appointed as a Specialist Woodwind Examiner for the Guildhall School of Music & Drama from 1989. As a teacher she has gained considerable reputation and currently teaches flute at Roedean and Lancing College.
