Biography
I was trained at the Royal Academy of Music 1965-69, where I gained my LRAM Teaching Diploma (merit) and ARCM Performers Diploma.
From 1969-73 I played as a first violin and then as a principal violin with the Bournemouth Symphony and Sinfonietta Orchestras. 1974-78 I was a principal violinist with the Welsh National Opera Company and from 1978-80 a principal violinist with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
I then freelanced in London and the Midlands for ten years, including playing Palm Court at the Sheraton Hotel, Doha and at the Stringfellows Club, Covent Garden. I played first violin regularly with the London Concert Orchestra at the Barbican, London and with the resident orchestras of the Istanbul and Hong Kong Festivals. My interest in World and Folk Music began in 1966, and since then I have put on performances with world history scripts for education and enjoyment.
I have an in depth knowledge of bowing technique. This is quite rare. Not many teachers have this knowledge. It is based upon a re-evaluation of experience and the fundamentals which can be learned in different, complimentary ways. If bowing is a problem to you, or you would like a thorough awakening in this, contact me.
