Biography

Martin Hearn founder of STIX School, 11 Kings Arms Yard has devoted all his life to his art. A professional drummer since his teens in NYJO and working the West End before he was 20 years old he had recordings with EMI, RCA, ITV and the BBC. He taught in London schools has trained peripatetic teachers for the UK Government’s New Deal, Bite Size, The Mix and has offered work experience and apprenticeships for NVQ’s. Mutually endorsed by Zildjian, Pearl, Simmons and Sonor Drums had involvement with numerous workshops. He is recognised by Who’s Who in Popular Music, Pinewood Studios, Cambridge University, Trinity, the LA Academy of Music, Vic Firth, the Musicians’ Union and others. He was nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 and most recently won the Award of Excellence to Children’s Achievements in 2005. Martin having been in the music industry over 35 years has the experience it takes to teach every aspect of drums properly. With an air-conditioned high street studio, full recording facilities with professional artists’ series drum kits, individual courses, relaxing reception room and open late hours.
