Biography

I have taught piano since 1994, both children and adults. I prepare pupils for exams(Trinity Guildhall and ABRSM) and also teach piano/keyboards for those who wish to take it up as a hobby.

I attended the University of Keele, one of the first universities which offered not only classical music studies but also jazz and the history of popular song. I obtained a first in popular song composition. Later I attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where I studied Music Therapy, piano with Lora Dimitrova-Watson and voice with Jane Metcalf. I have also studied piano with Janine Smith at the Elgar School of Music.

My musical experience is varied. I have spent many years as an accompanist for a music theatre ensemble, performed as a soloist, both as classical pianist and cocktail pianist and played keyboards for a rock band.

I believe that my musical experience means that I can offer a real understanding of how to express and communicate with the piano. There are many ways to teach- as many as there are people who wish to learn.
