Biography

James is available for private guitar tuition from his home in Camberley, Surrey.

Lessons take place during the week, and on occasion at the weekend. All lessons are structured to meet your individual requirements. Whether you are interested in formal examinations, or wanting to get up and play the blues at a local jam night, or just wanting to play your favorite songs on your guitar at home, James can help you to achieve this.

A specialist area of study he offers is fingerstyle acoustic guitar. Please see the audio & video sections of the website for more details.

GCSE & A-Level performance coaching is available, with a high number of students achieving A* grades at both levels.

If required, examinations are available using the Rockschool syllabus for electric guitar, or Trinity Guildhall syllabus for Classical Guitar. This can be very useful for students studying GCSE or A-Level Music. James holds a Grade 8 distinction certificate.

Group lessons are available to beginner students under the age of 16, at a shared cost between the pupils. Groups of 2 students maximum.

Lessons are available in 30 minute, 1 hour, or 1.5 hour sessions. Please contact for prices. As a rule shorter sessions are more suitable for a beginner, and 1 / 1.5 hours are more suited to progressing / advanced guitarist.

Alongside his private tuition, he also works as the guitar tutor at Gordon’s School (West End, Woking) and also for Surrey Arts where he provides guitar tuition in many schools across the county.
