Biography

My name is Tom Vincent and I work as a full time drum teacher teaching around 30 - 40 students each week.

I have played drums and percussion for most of my life, starting at the age of six years old. Throughout my youth I performed with several of the local area schools bands. This involved working with brass bands, wind bands, percussion ensembles and orchestras. The time I spent with these bands allowed me to perfect my reading skills and realise the diversity drums and percussion can offer.

Between the ages of 15 and 17 I worked with The Alder Valley Brass Band. This involved national and international touring, professional stage productions and opening for artists such as Elton John, Jools Holland, and Shirley Bassey. At the same time I recorded my first album with succcessful local band Redecho.

In 2001 and 2002 I studied drum kit at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. During my time at ACM I studied under some of the UK's top drum instructors. I also received lessons from members of Feeder, The Stranglers, Simple Minds and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

As well as teaching I am currently working as a session player which involves recording and performing with several different bands and artists.
