Biography

Carol Hughes grew up in the Isle of Thanet in Kent. She began learning the piano at the age of seven with her mother before taking formal lessons from Joceleyn Emptage. At thirteen she took up the clarinet and became involved in various local music groups



In 1980, Carol enrolled at Trinity College of Music, London, where she studied Piano under Joseph Weingarten, and Clarinet as second study. She also took tuition in Composition and Electronic Music including sound/recording techniques. She graduated with Licentiate (LTCL) and Graduate (GTCL) diplomas.



As well as her music teaching career, which began whilst at college, Carol regularly accompanies choirs, singers and instrumentalists and plays for church services. She particularly enjoys providing incidental music for wedding ceremonies.



She has lived and worked in Milton Keynes for 25 years.
