Biography
The Giordano School of Music, owned by Pamela McLennan, provides individual tuition in piano, keyboard, voice and guitar. Lessons are undertaken at the tutor's teaching base.
Pamela's real life and industry based experience has equipped her with the tools to provide a professional, practical & hands-on approach to musical tuition, individually tailored to meet each student's needs. Pamela is the Musical Director for The King's Theatre in Glasgow at christmas time, and writes & arranges the music, records all the backing vocals, and directs a five piece band to accompany actors such as Mr Darius Campbell, Mr Keith Jack, Ms Karen Dunbar, Mr Tony Roper, and Mr Gavin Mitchell. Pamela has also worked extensively for Royal Caribbean, providing entertainment to the onboard passengers.
The GSOM caters for all ages, levels and abilities. Levels and abilities range from complete beginner to a professional level. Ages range from the youngest student at 4 years old, to the oldest at 75.
Students of Pam McLennan are not only given instrumental tuition, but a musical tuition. As well as learning the techniques required to play their instruments, students will receive tuition in music theory and be encouraged to gain qualifications through The Associated Board of the Royals Schools of Music (ABRSM), or Trinity Guildhall. The Giordano School of Music is very proud to have had the pleasure of teaching numerous students who have gone on to study at university or to a career in the Music Industry.
With younger students, many argue that the lack of literacy and numeracy skills make musical tuition very difficult. The Giordano School of Music is of the opinion that music is something which can be enjoyed from and at any age.
Initial lessons with younger students consist of fun games and practical exercises to introduce the ideas of pitch, pulse, time & counting, thereby developing aural and visual skills. As the younger student ages slightly, a more exclusive emphasis can be placed on technique, with the core skills already having been developed in the elementary stages of tuition.
