Biography

Hailed by The Times as "a player of real charisma",Sarah James' diverse career as saxophonist, clarinettist and multi-instrumentalist combines solo recitals with working in the West End and on tour (Riverdance - worldwide, Phantom of the Opera, The Wizard of Oz, Legally Blonde, Love Never Dies, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Les Miserables, The Sound of Music) on commercial recording sessions and playing with the UK's leading orchestras. (Philharmonia, BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic, English National Opera, Opera North, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra)

Sarah is currently Saxophone and Clarinet tutor at the Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton , and has also taught at Bedales, North London Collegiate School, St Marylebone School, Warwick and Kingston Universities, the Haberdashers Askes School and was visiting Saxophone tutor at Birmingham Conservatoire (Junior Dept) for 5 years. Former students are members of the National Youth Orchestra and Wind Orchestra, and have achieved places at major UK Conservatoires including the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, the Royal Northern College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In addition Sarah is an entrance audition pannelist and external examiner at Trinity College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.
