Biography
Richard Ellis - Born 1975 in Beverley, East Yorkshire into a highly musical family.
Patricia (Mother) plays piano and has and still is a member of a church choir.
Also other family members including my Auntie Eileen who won the Tagore medal from the gloved hand of the Queen Mother played in various distinguished orchestras and solo works as well.
Grandparents were also musical on both sides of the family and my Great Grandfather Augustus Engelbrecht commissioned many pipe organs in the area.
1984 saw a major move to New Zealand, where there were a few opportunities and was where my musical interest started.
I became interested in Brass bands in 1986 and played various brass instruments including Cornet, BBb Bass and tenor horn with Cornet being my main instrument.
In 1992 I was bought my first keyboard by my father and this led to many different opportunities including Church organist, Theatre organist and Solo works including organising concerts for charities.
In 2004 I decided to move back to the UK and many more opportunities arose including playing for funerals including members of our family and in York. Weddings at Clifton Parish Church also in York.
I have also had the opportunity to play different organs around the district including the Baycourt wurlitzer in Tauranga, New Zealand, a music museum in London, St Mary's church in Whitby and Beverley. The cathedral in Sheffield and the crown jewel of York Minster!
My main market is care homes, sheltered accomodation, Hospices, and Similar Venues
