Biography
PERFORMING and TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I studied Music at Sheffield and Huddersfield Universities achieving a Masters in contemporary oboe technique. I was awarded with Merit a Diploma in Opera Studies from Birkbeck University (2008). My professional musical life began as an Oboist, appearing as an oboe-playing monk on TV’s Inspector Wexford Mysteries and freelancing first with Bournemouth Orchestras and then in London. I was a professional chorister at All Saint’s, Margaret Street, London (2001-2), performed for the Queen during the opening ceremony of the British Museum’s covered courtyard and solo engagements have included Schubert Mass in G, Handel Messiah, Mozart Vespers and Mass in C minor, Vivaldi Gloria, Bach Magnificat, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle and Duruflé Requiem. Opera credits include Fiordiligi, (Cosi fan Tutte), Papagena/2nd Spirit (Zauberflöte) and in scenes Susanna, Le nozze di Figaro, Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea), Chorus and Prima Sorella Cercatrice (Suor Angelica). Concert performances include Mabel (Pirates of Penzance) and Marjanah (Chu Chin Chow) and in a theatre production as Jessie Bond (Don’t Call Me Schwenk!). Future plans include Micaela (Carmen, Bizet) for Park Opera in Feb 11, the title role in The Merry Widow (Lehar) for West London Opera in May 11. I have recently given recitals at Art in Action, Waterperry House and am planning a summer tour in 2011 with a string quartet.
Pianist: I studied accompaniment as part of my first degree and have given many recitals as both soloist and in a duet playing a huge variety of music from Baroque to contemporary work written especially for me.
Teaching: Currently Piano and Voice teacher for Bucks County Council. Previously, Instrumental/Voice teacher for Dorset and Hampshire Music Services, Merton Park Music Centre Wimbledon, Bournemouth High School and the Park School, Bournemouth.
Choral director: The Park School, Bournemouth. Directing a 60-strong children’s choir ageing from 8 to 11.
