Biography
I was born in the North of England and studied at the Royal College of Music.

After moving to Germany, where I stayed for some years working as a performer and teacher of flute, piano and guitar, I returned to England and taught at the Leeds Music College and other places of higher education.

Around this time I did a BA at the Open University and a MA in Musical Performance at York University.

I have always enjoyed composing and have had many flute arrangements and compositions published as well as establishing my own publishing company, FlutePlay.com. On this website you can see score examples and listen to some incredible performances, not least the amazing Jazzrock Sonata, which was dedicated to me.

I also write and am a contributor to the New Grove Dictionaray of Music and have had articles published in Pan, the magazine of the British Flute Society.

Since 1993 I have also worked as an examiner for the ABRSM and have travelled the globe many times over in this capacity, examining Grade and Theory Exams, Diplomas as well as presenting seminars in the UK and abroad.
