I am based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire and offer my services as a composer/arranger and teacher of music to students of any age and ability.
I am able to offer professional tuition in voice, piano, pipe organ, keyboard (e.g. Casio/Yamaha etc.) and the theory of music.
I have two professional qualifications, these being a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degree both attained at the University of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. For my BMus (Hons) I studied under Paul Wade (a retired tenor from Opera North) singing and vocal technique and have acquired a professional standard. For my postgraduate degree, I studied contemporary composition under Dr. Bryn Harrison and have had success with the performance of many compositions.
I am able to offer students assistance in preparation for GCSE and A Level music coursework and syllabuses. I have a particular interest in the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Although my specialism is in avant-garde/experimental composition, I am also experienced and happy to guide students in any required style or genre.
I offer tuition to students of all ages and abilities and structure every lesson to meet the student’s requirements. I am of the philosophy that learning music should be fun and therefore it matters not if you wish to study for the nationally recognised ABRSM/Trinity examinations or whether you prefer to study for your own personal enjoyment.
