Biography
Born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, I have been playing brass instruments for over a decade. I began my musical journey playing the Trombone at school and college before joining the Royal Marines Band Service in 2001 as a Euphonium and Cello player.
I have experience of many genres of brass playing including orchestral, wind band, marching band, drum corps, big band, brass quintet and brass band as well as building a repertoire of solo works. In 2006 and 2007 I was awarded the 'Best Instrumentalist' trophy in the 2nd section of the SWBBA contest from over 250 musicians on each occasion.
I still study to improve my own skills by having lessons from professional Euphonium, Trombone and Tuba players as often as I can.
I have prior experience of tutoring young male and female students on a range of brass instruments and I have also conducted two training bands in the last 18 months. In addition to this, South Molton and Michelmersh Silver Brass Bands have also handed me the baton to conduct their senior bands on a few occasions. I have a CRB Enhanced Certificate and currently teach brass at a Primary School in Plymouth.
I currently conduct the Charles Cross Concert Band and occasionally guest conduct Brass Bands in Devon. I am enthusiastic and passionate about my music making and I have an increasing amount of experience to pass onto other brass students.
