Clare is currently teaching secondary music in Teeside as well as oboe and theory privately. She gained her PGCE through the university of Durham last year before taking up her current employment. Clare has a wide range of teaching experience including primary and secondary classroom music, GCSE and A-level together with beginner to diploma level oboe teaching. She is passionate about music making and also conducts and sings in many choirs in the North East
Clare completed her undergraduate in Music at Cambridge University where she was a instrumental award scholar as well as a student on the part time affiliate course with the Royal Academy of Music. Following this, Clare won a scholarship for post graduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music where she studied oboe with Emmanuel Abbuhl, Tess Miller and Celia Nicklin and Cor-Anglais with Jill Crowther. Whilst studying for her performance diploma Clare also completed her LRAM teaching diploma under the instruction of Janet Way.
Earlier in her musical career, Clare studied with Melanie Ragge at the Junior Royal Academy of Music where she won the senior wind prize and played principal in the symphony orchestra as well as at the Purcell School of Music where she was a finalist in the senior concerto competition. As a member of the National Youth Orchestra she toured many of Britain's major concert halls under conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Roger Norrington and Sir Colin Davis.
