I have been teaching for just over 2 years now after gaining my teaching diploma in 2005. I teach almost anyone - my students range from primary school age to retirement and from those wanting to do exams to those wanting to simply enjoy being able to play the flute. My style of teaching is fairly casual and tailored to individuals. I'm no dragon but will push a student if they are not fulfilling their potential
My flute playing started at age 8 - I really wanted to play the piccolo but was advised to start on the flute! Since then, it has taken me through university and music college with a few orchestral tours along the way.
I have to admit that after university teaching was not the way I wanted to go though it was the career advise given to me. So, for the next 10 years I searched for another satisfying career only to finally come to my senses and return to the flute and to teaching. I love it
Now, I teach in schools round the Bideford area and would love to extend my student list. I do have a few mornings and afternoons in the week free if this is more convenient for the students, or some evenings. If logistically and financially possible, I will come to the student's home. There is also a possibility of students sharing a lesson and splitting the cost
