Biography
I work as a freelance guitar teacher in Leeds and the surrounding areas and am available for both one on one and group lessons.
I tailor lessons to get the most out of each student, identifying strong areas and weak areas and using this knowledge as a foundation for learning. Often getting to grips with a new instrument can seem daunting but this does not have to be the case, and I aim to teach guitar in a positive and clear way, encouraging each student to fulfil their potential.
I specialise in jazz guitar and acoustic guitar music, although I have played and taught various styles including Eastern European folk music, Blues, Rock and Indian music.
I can help with getting to grips with improvisation, how and where to use different scales, how to improvise in different styles and how to work your way around a chord progression. I also specialise in ‘chord melody’ solo guitar playing.
As I am a regular gigging and rehearsing musician I can help with advice on running a band, arranging songs and looking for different types of work as a freelance musician.
I also have much experience working with young children who are just starting to learn guitar. I endeavour to help a pupil achieve their full potential whilst making lessons fun and inspiring and emphasising how rewarding learning guitar can be.
