Biography
James was awarded the Robert Lewin Scholarship from Awards for Young Musicians in 2008. Since then, James has appeared with the Leeds College of Music (LCoM) Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Leeds Symphony Orchestra, the LCoM Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of West Riding Opera, and the West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra. Currently he is the principal flute of Derbyshire City & County Youth Orchestra.
In 2011 James performed with the LCoM Chamber Orchestra at The Venue. His performance of Saint-Saëns’s Aviary from the Carnival of the Animals dazzled the audience. James is also a beneficiary of the Oxford Flute Summer School Bursary.
Born in 1991, James Wilson began playing the flute aged 8. He currently studies with Martyn Shaw at Leeds College of Music and has also studied with Wissam Boustany, Kate Hill, Ian Mullin, and Mike Mower amongst others.
