I have been playing and teaching drums professionally since 2002. I have graduated from Salford University, with a 1st Class Honours degree in Music.
I have taught at many schools and for several music services in the north-west. I have taught all ages from 6 to 82! (no, really!!!) I enjoy the challenge of teaching students of all ages and abilities, helping students reach their goals and enjoy their drum studies!
My teaching ethos is
1. To help the students achieve their musical goals
2. To make sure music and drums is an enjoyable activity
3. To make all students well rounded musicians and comfortable in all aspects of drums and percussion.
As a session drummer i have played in all styles and with some of the top touring shows, bands and musicians in the UK. Including 'The Kings of Swing" with USO Productions, with top Elvis impersonators and travelled Europe conducting Big Bands supporting the artists, The Official Tribute to The Blues Brothers Band, Mama Roux touring Scotland and the North East, I work with lots of Funk and Soul bands including my own band THE FUNKY DOCTORS who perform at high class weddings/parites/functions.
I am often called upon as the 1st choice drummer and dep for professional bands and shows, as i sight read to a very high standard and i'm confident in playing all styles with authenticity and a solid groove which is something I stress to my students, and I cover a great deal of.
As well as being a drummer and drum tutor. I work as a professional arranger, composer and Musical director, running bands and writing music for many different ensembles.
I have studied with many teachers including Dave Hassell, Steve Gibert, and Steve Washington.
