•March 2009-Aug 2011: Guitar lecturer and Sales Consultant at Music Boyz instrument shop. (www.musicboyz.co.za)
I lectured beginner to advanced guitar students (theory and practical) and beginner bass guitar students on the premises. I had my own room in the shop which I rented from Music Boyz.
•2006-2008: Lead Guitarist with TBM.
TBM (the Texas Beer Massacre) was my own project which I started with some close friends and students. The music focussed on the more aggressive side of music, leaning towards Thrash and Black metal. The goal was to create aggressive but extremely melodic rhythm parts as well as melodic counterpoint melodies inspired by Bach, Vivaldi ect.
•2004-2009: Guitar lecturer at Smith Music School.
I lectured beginner to advanced guitar students and beginner bass guitar students on the premises. I had my own room in the shop which I rented from Bobbie Smith (admin and teacher).
•2001-2006: Lead Guitarist with Mantis. (Toni Rowland)
Toni has been on the forefront of the South African music scene for many years and I had the privilege to work with her for an extended period of time.
The music was of a quieter nature mainly focussed on the vocals and lyrics.
•1999-2004: Duelling Lead Guitarist with Shadowlord.
Shadowlord was formed by myself, Herman le Roux and Riaan Els. The band went through many changes but ended up being the biggest Heavy Metal band in South Africa. Numerous demo’s and a full length album were released.
•2000: Performed ‘Guys and Dolls’ at Willow Ridge High School.
I auditioned for the guitar parts and got the gig immediately. The musical was a great success and ran for two weeks.
•1996-2003: Lead Guitarist with Anesthema.
This was my first real band just after I finished school. Was a great learning experience.
