Notes:

Penelope Tedd G.L.C.M: I am an experienced music teacher, teaching both privately and in a number of public schools. The lessons have a relaxed, friendly, yet professional atmosphere, tailored to the pupil's individual needs.

Over the years, I have taught people aged 5 to 93, from beginners to Grade 8 standard. Though many learn an instrument for pleasure or as a personal goal, a sizeable number of my pupils have gone on to study music in Higher Education, and some have gone on to successful careers in music/audio related industries.

Please select the Testimonial tab for comments from a number of my pupils and pupil's parents, both past and current. Also, select the Media tab for short audio clips of my pupils playing - these were simply recorded using my phone.

I travel to you. On top of the lesson fee, their is a flat rate charge of just £2.50. I do not charge extra after a certain mileage. I travel out to the following places, and everywhere inbetween:

Bognor Regis, Chichester, Littlehampton, Rustington, Angmering, Felpham, Pagham, Yapton, Barnham, Eastergate, Westergate, Fontwell, Walberton, Arundel, , West Chiltington, Storrington, Pulborough.

Child Protection: Since I work in schools, I am vetted/checked and trained annually for Child Protection. I take this very seriously, and strongly believe that such checks and training should be compulsory for all private tutors, which unfortunately is not the case. The code of conduct gives parents peace of mind that their child is being taught in a friendly and safe environment.

NSPCC: Keeping Children Safe In Music Course
CRB checked previously and DBS checked - Criminal Records Bureau, which is now the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Exams: I am an experienced exam accompanist, and teach the ARBSM, Trinity, and London College of Music exam boards. Pupils can take exams if they wish, but it is not compulsory. Some pupils fast track, sometimes even skipping a grade, whilst others work at a slower, steadier pace. Those that do not do exams often take them later on as their confidence and abilities develop.

I always keep pupils and parents informed of the level of progress and standard achieved whether exams are taken or not. When pupils take an exam, if possible, I attend to offer my support. This is at no extra cost, but I do charge £20 if a pupil needs me as an accompanist.

Special Needs: I have worked at Slindon College as a one to one music teacher for many years and am very experienced dealing with children with special needs such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, Dyscalcula, ADHD and ADD. Over the years I have seen pupil's confidence grow whilst learning an instrument, and a number of these pupils have gone on to study music in Higher Education.

Fees: I offer discounts for contiguous lessons (back to back), which makes it more affordable if you have more than one child/adult wanting lessons or a pupil learning more than one instrument. Fees can be paid weekly, half termly, or termly. For cancellations, at least 24 hours notice is appreciated. On top of the lesson fee, there is a flat rate charge of just £2.50 for my travel to you. I do not charge extra after a certain mileage.

Lessons are on a weekly basis in school term time. If pupils want lessons in the school holidays I am happy to accommodate this but probably at a different time and day.

Double Session: £31.50
Triple Session: £47
