“Gorgeous vocals lie at the heart of Brighton local Reins’ music. Reins makes music that captures the imagination and captures you..” “..the lyrics too are a step above..” folkroomrecords

My passion is teaching and empowering creativity. I believe that music should be a fun and therapeutic experience and that everyone can play and sing. No matter what you have been told at school! I love supporting students to find joy in music as well as students who want to make music their career.

Previous students have gone on to study music degrees and music therapy, played gigs at world renowned venues, and recorded EP's and albums to acclaim. A students most recent success story is being awarded the Emergent Artist Commission from Drake Music.

I have developed unique teaching methods that are fun and engaging and I have become well versed in traditional pedagogy through teacher training and 10 years teaching in schools and colleges. I am also a published author on music and education.

As an artist I have shared stages with with John Gomm, Nizlopi, Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard and James Bay. I have been lucky to be tutored by a number of industry professionals such as Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey) and Steve Hillier (Dubstar).

A qualified music teacher, I am the founder of the multidisciplinary music service (Specialist Music Service Brighton), which caters for students of all ages and a wide range of learning needs. Prior to this I was Head of Music at St John's College for five years.

I offer songwriting, guitar and vocal tuition as well as music production courses. Affordable recording and artist development is available embedded into sessions or as standalone packages.

Whether you are just starting out and want to improve your musical proficiency, or would like to develop yourself as an artist and record original songs, each course is tailored to your needs. My teaching approach focuses on achieving student led goals in a supportive, fun and professional environment

In addition I have extensive experience in delivering music sessions to students with special educational needs. In this context communication and behaviour goals can be addressed as well as increased community involvement.

I teach from Small Pond Studios in Brighton. Alternatively sessions could be held at your home.
