I specialise in teaching keyboard and piano across all styles and abilities, focusing on the student's interests and showing them what they need to do to achieve their goals.

I also offer beginner tuition on guitar and clarinet, as well as music theory. Theory can be a separate study (e.g. for grade exams) but it also fits naturally into learning an instrument, and I'm happy to go into as much or as little depth as required.

I believe that the most useful material to cover in a lesson is that which the student is interested in learning, as their motivation to play and practise is the driving force!

I cover classical, pop, blues, jazz, latin styles and vocal accompaniment I'm happy to work on anything my students want to. I've helped people who already write music, play in a band or perform as soloists, as well as complete beginners and everyone in between. Some choose to take grade exams and I'm always willing to support this, but I'm well aware that it's not for everyone and don't force exams upon my students.

I studied Music at the University of Southampton, specialising in piano performance including classical, jazz, and working with bands (as well as arranging/orchestrating, music technology, music history and analysis). Since graduating in 2009 I've been performing for a living as well as teaching a wide range of students aged 7 to 92, from complete beginners to those with grades or even performing experience.

I teach at my home studio on a full length digital piano, and also make home visits. Travelling usually costs an extra £5; more if you're further than 15 minutes drive; and free if you're within a mile radius! (see map https://ibb.co/giP4u5)

There is free parking on the road and Arriva buses 12 and 13 stop nearby. Areas inside my £5 travel distance include most of Luton, some parts of Harpenden and Hitchin, and some local villages in the area. I am happy to provide a no-obligation travel quote based on your address.

I'm flexible with lesson times and schedules, be it 30, 45 or 60 minutes (for example) and teach daytimes, evenings, and weekends fitting around my other teaching and performing engagements. Some of my students have a regular slot at the same day and time each week or fortnight, and some simply arrange the next lesson at a mutually convenient time at the end of a session. I have a DBS certificate (previously known as a CRB check) dated January 2017 should any parents wish to have this assurance.
