Violin, Viola, Theory, Piano ***ONLINE LESSONS AVAILABLE***, , Classical, folk, improvisation., , I am a strong believer that there is no one size fits all for teaching - especially when students are learning extra curricular activities such as music. , , Lessons must be enjoyable and fulfil the aims of the students (are you looking to join an amateur orchestra? want to feel confident turning up to a folk session? want your child to progress through grade exams? want to explore new creative avenues and see where they lead?) and must also fit around other life committments realistically. , , I aim to equip students with the tools they need to grown their own creative and musical approach by helping students find the repertoire they connect with most and tailoring technical and aural work to best support this. , , Music can be immensley rewarding, but it can also be very challenging. One of my primary aims is to challenge students enough to progress and surprise themselves, but always staying aware of the student experience and enjoyment. My combined knowledge and experience of different styles of playing and teaching mean I can adapt lesson plans easily to different learners.

I believe in the importance of developing a healthy vocal technique. I use my knowledge of Alexander Technique and Hatha Yoga to inform me when assisting students with their posture, and in eliminating vocal problems. I treat each student as an individual and use kindness to encourage students to practice regularly. This way they can gain confidence and progress, achieving their potential without anxiety., , I frequently enter singing pupils for ABRSM examinations and have a 100% pass rate, with most of my students achieving merit or distinction. I have been teaching piano since 2009. I have wide range teaching experiences of different ages from 5 yrs upto 60 yrs and different background. , , My teaching style is personalised to each pupil depending on their way of learning , characters. , , I put forward the pupils for ABRSM exams regularly (if that is what they want!). Mostly they have merit, distinction as results. , , However, I believe the music is not simply for exam. Some pupils are motivated more with challenge and targets such as exam, then I encourage them to do so. However some are demotivated and lose the interest with 'exam'. Then I encourage them not to take exam but just enjoy playing the piano. They thrive with simply enjoying the music. They actually improve at their learning with the time. , , So far most of my pupils seem to respond well with this approach. I try to listen and understand where they stand, what is best for individuals. I teach classic music but times to times introduce Jazz, film etc. I encourage the pupils to choose their favourite music whatever it is alongside classical training, which I believe a good foundations.
Piano I trained at the Birmingham Conservatoire with Joseph Weingarten and later with Sydney Harrison as a professional classical pianist, but enjoy teaching many other modern styles to suit the instruments I teach.
