Thank you for reading the MusicTeachers.co.uk Online Journal.
If you want to contribute, please read on!
The staff at MusicTeachers.co.uk realise that teachers need to keep in touch with each other, exchange ideas, resources and information as well as find out about new material available on the market. With this in mind, we are pleased to accept submissions to our Online Journal - a service that we hope will be as useful to Key Stage 1 classroom teachers as students and teachers in further and higher education.
What does the Online Journal contain?
We provide resources under the following headings:
1. Teachers resources
These will be of use in a variety of situations and will consist of downloadable schemes of work and lesson plans, each following a similar format with support and extension activities to make them suitable for mixed-ability teaching. In some instances, a small charge will be made for downloading, for which contributors will receive a percentage payment.
2. Articles concerning music education
Many experienced teachers have much advice to offer student teachers and NQTs concerning not only approaches to teaching, but assessment, management of classroom and extra-curricular activities, etc. Similarly, some students may like to share with us some of their experiences of teaching practice.
3. Essays, analyses, etc
These would be of use to students and teachers in secondary and tertiary education. As with teachers’ resources, original essays and analyses will be available to download for a small charge. All submissions in this area will be subject to close editorial scrutiny to ensure their quality is of the highest standard.
4. Performers contributions
These might concern hints and tips on making a successful performance, techniques for accompaniment or even historical performance practice.
Many musicians need to know about new materials whether these are printed resources, academic works or recordings. We work with an experienced team of reviewers. If you would like to contribute, let us know.
We hope that you will feel able to contribute to these pages. Acknowledgement for all contributions will clearly state the author’s name and, if required, school, institution or address.
For legal reasons, however, copyright will belong to us, initially for a period of one year.
It is advisable that contributors who wish to have material considered for publication contact me at [email protected] for guidelines concerning format and style.
We understand that many teachers have numerous resources they might wish to share that are not in electronic format. This is not a problem since hardcopies may be sent to:
