My approach to teaching bass is to make you a well rounded player. The areas I can cover are:, , Instrumental technique - LEFT HAND (Simandl, one-finger-per-fret system, neutral position), , , RIGHT HAND (free/rest stroke, "floating thumb" and "moveable anchor", 3 & 4 finger picking (DiPiazza, Garrison), slapping/popping and tapping), , , Sight Reading, , Scales, Modes, Arpeggios, Exercises, , Music Theory, , Ear Training/Transcribing, , Feel Playing and Working with a Drummer, , Grades 1-8 (Rockschool) and more., , I can also teach more of a traditional route of learning tunes and increasing your repetoire, with an emphasis on current function/corporate band set-lists, or a list of tunes you want to learn. I can also help with tour/gig prep, as well as learning/internalising of material., , I can travel to you (within the merseyside basin), teach from my home music room or teach over Skype™. All levels/abilities and style of playing welcome.

Hello,, , I am an experienced bass teacher living and working in Merseyside and have been a professional touring and recording musician for the last ten years., , I concentrate on teaching the fundamentals of music and the essentials of bass playing. You don't need fancy techniques in order to play well and get good gigs... you need a solid foundation: Good time feel, a developed sense of musical hearing, understanding of your options which will enable you to make good choices regarding notes, rhythms and phrasing (which comes from analysis of musical styles and the music of other bass players and other instrumentalists)., , Understanding the basics of harmony is actually not as hard as you might think. The hard part is committing to a routine of personal practise outside the music lesson to get the concepts in your mind and under your fingers. , , Whether you are a beginner or have been playing for a number of years, I can help you to develop as a player. My experience as a working musician means I understand what is required on the gig, beyond the mechanics of notes and technique., , I currently teach all age groups, from children of 8 years old to adults. , , I offer regular weekly lessons or a less regular schedule to suit, depending on your commitments., , I am based in Wallasey, Wirral and am within easy reach of the M53, Mersey ferry, New Brighton and Wallasey railway stations., , Please feel free to get in touch to discuss your requirements., , Best regards,, , Steve

I teach Saxophone lessons for all ages, in all styles of playing at all levels of playing, offering exam studies from the inspiring ABRSM Jazz Grades syllabus as well as the more traditional "classical" exam grades., Jazz grades now go up to Grade 8 with the Trinity Guildhall syllabus, without the need for grade 5 theory, again this is a very thorough and well thought out syllabus., It's not all about exams however and I'm keen to teach anyone with an interest in Saxophone playing., I offer “trial” lessons during which you can come along for a “taster” lesson, designed for those without their own instrument who are interested in taking up the Saxophone, you can get started with this basic lesson based on Saxophone fundamentals blowing technique and posture. I'm happy to advise about Saxophone purchase., You are welcome to have this taster lesson with me using one of my many saxophones., , http://www.wirralsaxophonelessons.co.uk/index.html
