Biography

Born near Woolwich in London, I spent many years under the guidance of Roy Slade. Before retiring, he was leader of the Royal Artillery Orchestra in a time when it had a reputation as the best orchestra in the country. Some of his colleagues also conducted and taught at my local music centre giving me a top quality music education including European tours before I even left school.

During my music degree I spent time with some of the best old school teachers in the country at Colchester Institute, before taking my teacher training at the prestigious Goldsmiths College in London.

Performing experience has been wide and varied across the London boroughs, Kent, Sussex, Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire. I have played as principal & sub-principal in orchestras conducted by Sir Edward Heath (MBE), George Vass, Adrian Brown, David Grubb, Ian Smith, Jan Kaznowski and Michael Rose (OBE) amongst others and played in quartets for prestigious council events.

In the last 20 years I have taught for various music services including Surrey, East Sussex, Richmond before settling in the Northantonshire/Bedfordshire borders. I have taught all ages and abilities preparing for both Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall exams with many students gaining Merits & Distinctions. Above all, I aim to teach in a logical way with huge amounts of enthusiasm and fun.

Enjoy your journey!
