Biography

I am an experienced teacher, enthusiastic about teaching pupils of all abilities. I am currently studying as a flute scholar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Phillipa Davies and Sarah Newbold. Prior to this, my passion for music was developed through four years of study in the Junior Department of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where I learnt with Ruth Morley. During this time I thoroughly enjoyed playing in a variety of ensembles, including the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, where I was able to work with a large variety of players. I have continued to enjoy this aspect of my studies at Guildhall where I am involved with and exposed to a diverse array of musical styles from which I draw inspiration when teaching and encouraging pupils.
I tailor my methods to each pupil and respect that everyone wants different things out of instrumental teaching.
I am happy to guide any level of student through exams or provide a more casual approach. My main aim is to encourage a love for music in my pupils, whatever form that may take, and to challenge them to progress their playing to a level they can be proud of!
