Beginners to Advanced
Hello! Pleased to ‘virtually’ meet you.
I’m a warm, encouraging and passionate Singing Teacher of eleven years, in both group and private capacities.
I specialise in Musical Theatre and Pop / Contemporary singing (including Soul, R&B, Jazz, Folk and Indie).
I also have a basic Classical foundation knowledge, as well as experience in training students in Performance, Acting through Song, and Singing / Songwriting.
I have taught from age 9 up to retirement age. As such, I am used to articulating / describing warm-ups and techniques in an appropriate way for the students' age, as well as taking physicality into account.
I prioritise - and thoroughly enjoy - getting to know students both as singers and as individuals. It is important to me that they:
- Feel comfortable in the teaching space
- Have a tailored experience in their lessons - whether learning for fun or preparing for an exam / audition / performance
- Are enjoying the repertoire / areas we are working on
- Feel they are learning / progressing
- Have an understanding of the physiology of the voice and breath
I am experienced in preparing students for Singing exams and am particularly familiar with the following exam boards, with whom I have a 100% pass rate:
LAMDA (Musical Theatre)
Trinity College London (specialising in Trinity Rock & Pop)
ABRSM (Grades 1-3 and Singing for Musical Theatre, all grades)
I have taught as a Peripatetic/ Visiting Music Teacher for City Council Music Services, and for a number of independent schools, including Badminton School and Kind Edward VI School (Southampton).
I consider the ongoing development and maintaining of my teaching standards and methods paramount, as well as my own singing practice. I regularly attend Singing and Arts teaching courses and conferences, and have completed teacher training courses with LAMDA, BAST and Estill Voice Training (with Anne-Marie Speed, Certified Course Instructor), including the Complete 5-day course in the Estill model.
I am fully DBS-checked, and have completed a number of Child Protection / Safeguarding courses for Peripatetic and Arts teachers.
Lessons are available on weekdays. I teach at my home in Brislington, or may be able to come to you depending on location.
Please do get in touch with any questions!
As a part of my Singing Tuition, I also run a small Performing Arts organisation, Perform For Life. We offer Singing, Drama and Movement lessons for children and young people all over Bristol.
