Biography

BARNEY MULLER started playing the guitar at the age of 7 under the superb instruction of Bob Power and later Clive Mills. Playing in the youth ensembles of Hertfordshire, he honed his skills performing at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Barbican and the Millennium Dome. In 2001 he was awarded the Gibbons Award for outstanding contribution to music in Hertfordshire resulting in a performance with Jacqui Dankworth and Mike Outram.

In 2002 Barney was one of 10 teenagers in Britain picked by EMI and the Music Sound Foundation as bright new talent for the future and taken on a tour of the music industry. In 2003 under the advice of fellow St. Albans music veteran Rod Argent, Barney accepted a place at Trinity College of Music in London where he studied guitar with Mike Outram, Dave Cliff and Dominic Ashworth. During that time he spent a year at the prestigious Rotterdam Conservatoire where he studied with John Abercrombie, Adam Nussbaum, Hein van de Geyn and Tommy Smith.

His guitar playing has taken him all over the world performing at numerous festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, Coachella, Montreaux and North Sea Jazz Festivals and hundreds of TV and radio performances with artists such as Lily Allen, Speech Debelle, The Baker Brothers, The Puppini Sisters and currently, Sweet Billy Pilgrim.
