Biography

Jack Wilson is a saxophonist who is currently based in London. He is a currently studying for a Masters Degree at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Jack is also a graduate from Leeds College of Music where he has obtained a BA Hons (Jazz) degree.

Although Wilson has been studying Jazz recently, his previous musical training covered a wide range of genres. Up until the age of 18 Jack studied classical saxophone as well as performing regionally and nationally with the ‘Area Concert Band’ (Harrogate Music Centre), the ‘Dragon Saxophone Choir’ and ‘HYJO’ (Harrogate Youth Jazz Orchestra), where he held the 1st Alto seat for a number of years.

Since studying at LCoM, Wilson has primarily become a Tenor saxophonist although he his equally as comfortable on both Alto and Baritone saxophones.
Jack cites his biggest influences as Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson and Michael Brecker, which is reflected in his powerful and vibrant sound.

Currently, Jack can be seen performing throughout the UK with projects such as: ‘Jack Wilson Trio’ 'Chaos Theory’ and 'Abstract Orchestra' to name a few.

In addition to regular performances, Jack is a keen teacher offering tuition to all ages and abilities. As well as teaching one-to-one he is also available to run workshops aiming to inspire musicians of all abilities. Lessons can also be arranged on Skype.
