Born in Tenerife (Spain) in 1985, Samuel recently finished a MMus with Distinction on a financially supported by the RSAMD Trust studying with Maximiliano Martin and Bass Clarinet with Heather Nicoll. Before coming to Glasgow he studied at the Conservatoire Superior of Canary Islands. He has performed in masterclasses throughout the EU with many prestigious players including Barnaby Robson and Thomas Friedli. Samuel won in 2008 The Governor’s Wind Recital Prize and the Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music. As a soloist, he play the Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, Debussy’s Premiere Rhapsody and the premiere of “Triskel” Concertino for Clarinet and Ensemble with the RSAMD Symphony Orchestra. He regularly performs both Clarinet and Bass Clarinet with many prominent orchestras and ensembles in UK and Spain, including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Scottish Opera Orchestra, Hebrides Ensemble and Red Notes. At the present he is principal clarinet of the Camerata Scotland, member of the Britten-Pears Orchestra and is currently on Trial for Sub-Principal clarinet with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
