Hello! My name is Amy and I`m an oboist who wants to share my passion and knowledge of music with others, always endeavouring to make learning a musical instrument an enjoyable experience. I was based in London for 10 years and relocated to Glasgow in 2015 to take up the position of Principal Oboe with Scottish Opera.
I am generally flexible during the week and at the weekends fitting teaching around my orchestral schedule.
I am happy to travel to student's homes in the central Glasgow vicinity or for them to have lessons at my residence.
I have been teaching oboe and recorder across London for the past eight years teaching people from the ages of eight to 68 and preparing students for examinations to a good success rate. I have also been a deputy teacher at Hackney Youth Orchestra Saturday School and at Ealing Junior Music School in London. Currently in Glasgow I teach oboe at Hutcheson's Grammar School and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and in Edinburgh at Fettes College.
Usually I prepare my students for ABRSM examinations, but am open to other exam boards as well. Am able to also prepare students for music festivals and scholarship auditions. I also hold a PVG disclosure for working in Scotland.
