AVAILABLE FOR PRIVATE TEACHING DURING SCHOOL SUMMER HOLIDAYS

I am passionate about music and education. I currently hold three teaching positions at St Michael’s Catholic Grammar School, The Latymer School and Tiffin Girls’ School, alongside work in orchestral and chamber performance.

I plan thoroughly for my teaching in order to cover the variety of skills needed for exam syllabuses, whilst prioritising a good technical grounding in the clarinet and the enjoyment of learning. I am very familiar with the ABRSM exam system and can guide students through these or any other major exam boards if they wish. I am happy to accompany pupils in lessons for beginners and can teach music theory up to Grade 6 level.

I am passionate about musical performance, and share this enthusiasm through teaching. I have been playing professionally as an extra with the Royal Northern Sinfonia and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, whilst participating in the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s training programme. I am a founding member of Cavendish Winds Quintet. Performance highlights include recitals at Wigmore Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Kings Place, and a tour of Scotland last February. As a soloist I recently performed Kancheli’s Concerto for Clarinet and boy soprano at the Royal Festival Hall, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski. I am always striving to improve my own playing and explore new repertoire, goals which aid my teaching.

Whilst being trained as a classical musician, I also enjoy jazz and popular music. I have performed at the Montreal and Ottawa Jazz Festivals as the supporting act to the Mingus Big Band, and worked with German pop musician Annett Louisan in open air concerts across Germany.

I have further experience working with children as a social staff member of the National Children’s Orchestra and National Children’s Wind Orchestra. Last year I held a fellowship with Wigmore Hall’s Learning Department, helping with family days and giving workshops in primary schools.

I have a current DBS check and EduCare child protection course certificate. I can travel to students' houses or teach at my home address. Please get in touch!
