Hi!

My name is Alessandra. I started playing the flute at the age of 10. I obtained an MA in Flute at the age of 18 from the Conservatory of Cagliari in Italy.
I have also a degree in Chamber Music from the Conservatorio "Santa Cecilia" in Rome, Italy, and I continued my musical studies under the guidance of Raymond Guyot (P. Flute at the Paris Opera) and Michele Marasco (P. Flute Orchestra Regionale Toscana) at the Accademia del Flauto, Carlo Macalli (P. Flute Teatro dell’ Opera di Roma) and Andrea Oliva(P. Flute Orchestra Accademia Santa Cecilia) in Rome. I studied also Piccolo with Nicola Mazzanti (Piccolo Teatro Maggio Fiorentino) and Bruno Lombardi.

I have almost 20 years of performing experience playing in various orchestras and ensembles, covering a wide repertoire from Romanticism to contemporary music, as well as pop and rock. I am member of two renowned Italian contemporary music ensembles: "Imago Sonora" and "Piccola Accademia degli Specchi"

I have been teaching flute, piccolo and music theory for over 15 years at public and private schools, delivering private lessons and group classes to pupils of all ages and all levels. I have got the QTS, and I can prepare students for the ABRSM examinations.

I am a flexible, passionate and friendly teacher. I have the highest commitment to teaching flute and music, shaping my lecturing style on the individual needs and interests of the student(s). With adults, I also focus on the student's personal goals, encouraging and supporting a sustained engagement with the studies and constant progression.

I teach at home, but I am available to meet the student and teach at the student's house, provided it be in Newcastle upon Tyne and the travel expenses be covered.
