Biography

BA(Hons) Dunelm, ISM (Full member), Enhanced DBS

Following school years filled with diverse musical experiences I studied for a degree in Music at the University of Durham. Whilst there I was awarded the prestigious Michael James Organ Scholarship at Durham Cathedral for three successive years, concurrently holding the Organ Scholarship at University College, Durham. During this time I gained a further wealth of experience as a solo and accompanying pianist and organist.

Since graduating in 1999 I have used this multitude of experience to build a busy portfolio career as a professional musician and instrumental teacher.

I began teaching piano at the age of 14 and have now amassed 20+ years of experience in taking beginner students from their very first lessons to musical fluency, enjoyment and success. I have had the pleasure of teaching a very wide age range from 3-90 years, whether beginners, more advanced students or those returning to the piano after life got in the way! Over the years I have entered numerous students for ABRSM piano, organ and theory examinations and have maintained a 100% success rate.

In 2018 I played for Duchy Opera's tour of Merry Wives of Windsor. I am the regular Accompanist for the Loveny Male Voice Choir and the Fowey River Singers. 2018 has also seen me join the St Austell Speech and Music Festival as an official accompanist.

In addition to teaching I am also available for accompaniment work and to help instrumentalists with sight reading and aural tests in preparation for exams or concerts.
