I am an experienced classical pianist and clarinettist and have a Bachelor of Music degree from Goldsmith’s College. I am an enthusiastic pianist and have played variously as a soloist and in chamber ensembles. Also, as a keen clarinettist I have played clarinet, alto clarinet and bass clarinet in small ensembles, wind bands and orchestras for over twenty years. I have been active in many of these ensembles which have been involved in community and educational projects with schools and local communities.

For the last eleven years I have successfully taught piano part-time whilst studying for my degree and then while balancing full-time work.

Early in 2015, after leaving full-time employment at a well-known music retailer where I gained extensive knowledge of music repertoire of all genres, I have begun to focus on solely teaching. I am now committed to teaching piano and clarinet on a full-time basis and currently teach clarinet in a local school one day a week.

I am able to prepare students for their practical and theory exams (including Trinity and ABRSM) and the performance aspects of GCSEs and A-Levels.

As an experienced instrumental teacher my goal is to instil a sense of music appreciation and achievement while at the same time teaching students about the practical and theoretical aspects of music and appreciation of their own budding musicianship. I approach lessons with the understanding that each student will have a different way of learning and will have different needs along the way to achieving their goals. Importantly though, I believe learning an instrument should be an enjoyable experience!
