John-Paul Muir is an award-winning pianist originally from Auckland, New Zealand. He is a prize-winner of many competitions both in New Zealand and over-seas, and has performed throughout the UK and in Los Angeles, New York, and Boston. His teachers include Joan Havill, Rae de Lisle, and Stephen De Pledge. In addition to his classical piano studies, John-Paul is active as a jazz pianist and teacher, and is passionate about improvisation.

John-Paul was a jazz piano tutor at the University of Auckland, and taught piano at a number of top Auckland colleges in addition to a small private studio. He currently has a limited number of spaces for private students at his studio in Bloomsbury, central London. In some cases, he is also able to travel to give lessons. He is especially qualified to not only teach classical piano students but also students wanting to learn jazz, improvisation, and indeed almost any style of music.
