I am a Folk Violinist based in Southampton, England. Although I specialise in playing music of the English Tradition, my repertoire covers the rest of the British Isles, France, North America, Scandinavia and beyond. I am also an experienced classical violinist, with experience in playing in orchestras and other ensembles.

I am willing to teach people with or without previous musical experience, just so long as they are enthusiastic. A specific folk music syllabus does not exist, so to clarify, the areas I cover include...

-Basics of Violin playing and Musical theory (if necessary)
-Specific Folk Techniques and Ornamentation (decoration)
-Playing by ear
-Playing as part of an ensemble
-Learning Tunes and Repertoire
-Accompanying Song
Lessons are tailored to pupils' individual requirements

I also play in several bands, including 2014 Radio 2 Young Folk Award Nominees Granny's Attic.

I aim to be as flexible as possible, working around your needs, as well as my own commitments as a musician. I am able to travel around Southampton, as well as to other areas in Hampshire area, but you can also come to me if you like.
